How I Got Started

I started learning how to make jewelry when I was about 16 years old, my dad Felipe Rivera mentored me and showed me the proper techniques to create durable and intricate pieces that blend artistry with craftsmanship. He still gives me good advice, especially when I am trying out a new technique. Another learning factor has definitely been trial and error. For the past year I have been fixated on filigree, I can't even count the amount of times I melted pieces I was working on, or lost a stone for a ring I was making.. But all that has made me a more experienced artist and I'm glad I can share those experiences with my dad and also my cousin Alejandro Atencio (seen below) who makes wonderful stamped turquoise jewelry!
